Project Features:

AES provided all A/E design through construction period services necessary to perform preliminary and final designs to include contract specifications and drawings. The new design provides a photovoltaic (PV) system located on the roof of a 2 new carports VA Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.  The system consists of an array of 496 cells rated 195W each that produce approximately 96 kW of power.  The output of the PV cells is converted from DC to AC through an inverter system.  The power obtained from the PV system is used to offset the power consumed during the daylight hours.

AES designed the structure for the carport, redesigned the parking lot and provided construction support. This included general guidance and administrative procedures for the successful preparation of the RFP as well as construction period services including acting in an advisory capacity to the VA, protection of proprietary information, interpretation of documents, staying within programmed amounts, and recommendations of actions for constructors, throughout the completion of construction.

AES was responsible for professional quality and accuracy of all documents, as defined in the A/E Submission Instructions for Major New Facilities, Additions, & Renovations for Schematics, Design Development and Construction Documents (VA Program Guide March 1997).
