Project Features:
AES is providing detailed construction Scheduling services, one full time on-site Structural Engineer, and one full time Safety professional to assist the Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) in monitoring and inspecting the construction activities for compliance with contract requirements and industry standards. The period of performance is 3 years. The magnitude of construction cost is between $50,000,000.00 and $100,000,000.00.
The overall scope of construction includes four (4) main stages:
Site Preparation: construction fencing, fuel oil piping removal, crane erection.
Deconstruction of the Existing Bed Tower: consists of deconstruction of existing levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, penthouses level 1 and level 2 and roof. Prior to commencement of tower deconstruction an extensive safety system must be prepared and implemented to isolate the hospitals 24/7 operation from the construction/demolition activities. These lower levels contain essential health care operation that will remain in operation during the execution of this project.
Seismic damping/bracing of structural bays to the Podium: 45 locations within the basement level through level 2 that will receive structural seismic bracing or column stiffening. These areas of disturbance will require disconnecting and or relocating various utilities and include lead and asbestos abatement.
Interior Renovations: Basement level work includes - canteen refrigeration, canteen staging, and corridor and shelled out swing space needs. Approx. – 5,665SF
b. Level one work includes - new canteen kitchen and dining, new main corridor, new main lobby/heroes hall, new urology clinic, public restrooms, and Volunteer Service Suite. Approx. – 35,806SF
c. Level two Renovation includes -New Union Offices and a bridge leading to the adjacent Bed Tower. Approx. – 2,472SF
d. Level three Renovation includes -New IRM Department including a shelled out computer room for future use. Approx. – 16,121SF
